maudlin inchie January 24th, 2011

This was a tough word to get working on. It does not evoke happy thoughts. Depressing, overly romantic etc. Not my idea of a fun word so I thought about what I consider maudlin and clowns came to mind and especially mimes. I do not like either. They make me sad. So the king of mimes had to be my target. Here you have Marcel Marceau. I mean him no disrespect. I just personally find mimes maudlin. To perk the imagine up a bit a little silly play on words seemed appropriate. Don't "Mime" me! I am just a little slap happy from all the snow.

Inchie compared to a quarter

This is to help those who do not work in miniature have a better grasp of the relative size of the one inch square to a quarter. Check out the site: Every Inchie Monday to see some amazing quarter sized works of art.

Lone Wolf Inchie

The lone wolf inchie was a postage stamp. The purple "Footprints" were supposed to be brown but this is what you get when you do not test your ink before using. The prints were made from a stencil I made using a small hand punch. I had not intended to use this postage stamp with the interesting cancel marks until my cat hopped across my table and upset what was in progress. When I finished chasing the cat off and sat down again the lone wolf was waiting to be used.

This is my inchie for Monday, January 10th 2011. It was fun to do and will continue as long as the ideas keep coming. This one is titled LONE WOLF.

January 2011

Happy New Year! My good friend Joanne suggested that if you start your new year doing something you love you will continue doing that all year. I love to paint so that is what I did.
The results are not spectacular but the process was very rewarding and taught me much for the next purse. This one is so ugly I think it will stay in the house and be used to catch wayward supplies from roaming all over my table. Happy January.
